VantaChat is a project focused on private communication, based in the United States. We want more people to be able to chat in familiar ways and understand how their content is protected.
VantaChat is based on the Matrix protocol. It offers only the web app, with no mobile app or voice or video calls.
What encryption covers
New message bodies and chat attachments are end-to-end encrypted. You keep the 12 English recovery words, which are used to recover your account and restore encrypted history.
The server stores message bodies and chat attachments as encrypted data and cannot read their contents. Delivery information, avatars, group names, group announcements, friend request greetings and contact notes are handled as described in the privacy policy.
