Cookies and local storage

Your browser stores some information to keep you signed in and help you use encryption.

Browsing the website

The website has no registration form, advertising or analytics scripts. Switching languages opens the page address for that language. When you manually choose a language, the browser stores a local vc_site_lang value solely to open the same language next time.

Using the web chat app

The chat app uses localStorage to store sign-in tokens, account and device identifiers, language choices and some interface preferences. IndexedDB stores local encryption state, and sessionStorage stores some session state.

This storage keeps your session active, remembers your choices and supports encrypted messaging. The server backup for end-to-end encryption is stored separately. Clearing browser data may sign you out or remove your local encryption state.

Registration checks and third parties

Chat registration uses Cloudflare Turnstile. It processes connection and browser signals needed for verification; see Cloudflare’s privacy notice for details.

The hosting provider may keep access statistics, depending on how hosting is configured, so some visits may be logged. The website's own page code contains no analytics scripts.

Managing storage

You can view, restrict or clear website storage in your browser settings. Sign out after using chat on a shared device.

Before clearing storage, make sure your recovery words are safely stored. Clearing local data does not delete your account or encrypted messages on the server, or copies saved by participants in your conversations.
